About Nigel Roake Photography . . .
My name is Nigel - a photographer based in the Royal Borough of Greenwich.
I come from a technical background. Although I am a Londoner, my first degree (Media Technology) was completed in Sunderland - volunteering in theatres and for radio stations in the north east. Returning to London, I spent five years working on the South Bank - the cities' artistic centre. In 2002, I decided to return to University, this time in Greenwich, gaining my Masters in Computing and Information Systems in 2004. Away from my regular work, I devote my spare time to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway - as a booking clerk and to the A1 Steam Locomotive Trust, travelling all over the country with the on-train merchandise sales team. I have also photographed products for the A1 trust online shop - www.a1steam.com - and for the on-train merchandise sales brochure.
I am passionate about travel. There is always a new horizon to explore, another opportunity for that golden shot. Recent trips include Hong Kong, Istanbul and the Scottish Highlands & Islands. It is this passion for travel that inspired me to do more with my camera, whether it be a rugged landscape on Orkney, or a squirrel feeding in Greenwich Park.
Closer to home, I often take my camera to the Thames, to photograph the ever-changing riverscape, which merges wildlife with our industrial heritage and the modern developments of London's docklands. Being a World Heritage Site, Greenwich is never short of inspiration for stunning, atmospheric photographs.
My natural and relaxed shooting style is ideal for family portraits, corporate and actor/ musician headshots, product photograpghy and location work.
